About the Irving Marathon Running Series
Founded in 2012 by Lazaro Alvarez and Ronnie Chesko, the Irving Marathon began as a heartfelt initiative to give back to the Irving/Las Colinas community and spotlight the area’s scenic running routes. In 2019, Lazaro and Jaclyn launched the Irving Marathon Running Series, expanding the mission into a year-round lineup of events that promote fitness, fun, and community spirit.

We are passionate about creating unforgettable running experiences that celebrate health and wellness. Our goal is to deliver well-organized, inclusive, and challenging events that cater to runners of all levels—from first-timers to Boston Marathon qualifiers. Through every race, we aim to inspire an active lifestyle and foster a strong, supportive running community.

OUR BENEFICIARY
Empowering Students Through Service and Scholarship
The Irving Marathon Running Series proudly awards a $1,000 scholarship at each race to an Irving ISD student who volunteers at our events. This initiative is made possible through our partnership with the Irving Schools Foundation’s Breakfast with the Stars program.
Every dollar donated goes directly to supporting these scholarships and additional impactful programs, including Food For Thought and Anti-Bullying education. Your support helps us invest in the future of our youth and strengthen our community, one stride at a time.
ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Lazaro Alvarez, Founder/CEO/Race Director of the Irving Marathon Running Series received the Entrepreneur Of The Year Award at the 2023 Hispanic Business Salute by the Dallas Cowboys, NBC 5-Telemundo 39, and UPS.
The Hispanic Business Salute is an event that recognizes Hispanic entrepreneurs and supports the younger generation in achieving success. Its mission is to celebrate the contributions of Hispanic entrepreneurs in North Texas who have significantly impacted their communities and created opportunities through innovation and entrepreneurship.
